Racing For A Cure... My Running Journal
Welcome to my journal... it entails my progresses in trainings and fundraising for my Team in Training adventure (I call it an adventure, because 13.2 miles for me seems about the same as climbing Mt. Everest... humm... maybe that can be next). Please check back often, as I will update a few times a week. Not Long Now
Well, my yard sale is over, my fundraising is quickly coming to an end, and it won't be long now before I will be in San Diego (I am flying out a week from tomorrow). I am getting very excited! However, this week has been very busy, as Chris and I are getting ready to move... so lots to do!We made about 200 dollars from my yard sale... not quite what we were expecting, but it was a success! So, as my last few donations are coming in, it still looks like I'm about $600 dollars away from my goal, which will be coming out of my own pocket. I am extremely grateful for everyone who has donated to me thus far! I feel very disappointed in myself, I guess. I was hoping to surpass my goal, and and I didn't even make it that far. I was hoping more for myself, but I am thankful I got as far as I did... which I couldn't have done without all of you who have so gratefully donated. I will think of each of you as I cross that finish line (and probably the 13 miles along the way. :)It may be hard for me to update again before I leave, but I will try to one more time. And, don't forget, I can take donations up to 2 weeks after the race. So... it's not too late to make a donation!!! I will update as soon as I can! Woo-hoo... only 2 more weeks!
Postponed Yard Sale
Hello everyone. Well... it is crunch time! We are a little over 3 weeks away until San Diego! Oh my goodness... that seems so close. We were going to have our yard sale this weekend, but due to some inclement weather and some other stuff going on, we are going to postpone it one week! But, we are still going to have it, and hopefully raise lots of money (like at least $1000, as that is how much I need to raise my goal)! So, if you have anything you may want to donate for the sale, please email me and let me know.
My training is going great. Last week, I was struggling with some tremendous calf pain that I couldn't shake off. My legs would start hurting after only a mile or so, and I couldn't figure out what was going on. However, I figured out that I wasn't stretching well enough, causing me to get knots in my calves. So, I started stretching really good, and have began increasing my runs again. And, although the weather here is chilly (like 48 degrees), I love to run in this kind of weather. I had a great run this evening (like 5 or 6 miles), and feel wonderful... back to my old self. Hopefully no more calf issues... I have a long run this weekend... the whole 13 miles hopefully! I will update again next week... hopefully I get some online donations this week, putting me closer to my goal of $3600!
Hello everyone. It is time for another update! I had my bake sale yesterday, and it was very successful. We raised $350 for LLS! Thanks to Anna and Stephanie who helped me out, as well as everyone who helped bake for it. We had some wonderful yummy treats! Now... I am planning my yard sale, which hopefully raises a lot of money! I am still about $1000 away from my goal. I am 70% of the way there... so don't stop those donations. Don't forget, you can also donate online! Thanks everyone for everything. I will update again soon.
